Giuseppe Cappè
Giuseppè Cappè nacque a Milano nel 1921, ha vissuto a Milano e successivamente a Lomagna (Lecco) dove nel suo studio, vicino alla manifattura di porcellane, realizzava le sue opere apprezzate in tutto il mondo e che, specialmente in America, hanno conquistato il mercato. Parte dei suoi lavori sono ora in molte collezioni private e musei. Cappè era un artista che traeva ispirazione dai filoni della grande tradizione popolare barocco-alessandrina italiana di cui gli stucchi di Serpotta (Palermo), le porcellane di Capodimonte e le mangiatoie napoletane sono gli esempi più tipici e ben noti.
Cappè era un artista che ha realizzato sculture sin dal 1946 e le sue creazioni hanno avuto un tale successo da essere imitato e plagiato.
Lavorò anche come capo scultore presso lo studio IPA e successivamente come capo scultore presso la King. Molti dei suoi modelli sono ancora riprodotti da questi studi di porcellana. Muore a Lomagna il 7 maggio 2008.
Le sue opere sono firmate “Cappè” o “GCappè”.
Giuseppè Cappè, born in Milan at 1921, lives in Milan and works at Lomagna (Lecco) where he has the workshop-studio near own manufactory and where he performs his sketches that are sent all over the world, expecially in America where they have won the market.Many his works are now in many private collections and museum.Cappè is an artist who has taken inspiration from the lodes of the great italian barocco-alessandrina folk tradition of wich the stuccos by Serpotta (Palerm), the Capodimonte Manufactures and the Neapolitan mangers are the tipical and well knows has had so much success that has been imitated and even plagiarized.He worked as chief sculptor at the IPA studio prior to the formation of Kings Studio. He was the Maestro at Kings Studio for some years before setting up his own sophisticated studio in 1956. Many of his models are still reproduced by the fine artists at IPA and Kings Studios. Dies in Lomagna (Italy) at 7th of may 2008. His figurines are signed “Cappè” or “GCappè”.
